The OSI Group was founded in 1909 by Otto Kolschowsky. Otto was an immigrant of German descent and began his company in Aurora, Illinois. OSI is owned privately and is a holding company that services the field of processing meat. Only two years after he came to the United States, he started a family market carrying different types of meat in Oak Park, also located in Illinois.
The business was changed to encompass the wholesale aspect of the meat trade when he moved his business close by to Maywood. At this point in time the company name was changed to Otto & Sons. The year was now 1928. Their reputation for having meat available of the best quality is outstanding.

As the president of OSI, David McDonald felt this acquisition would help to expand their European business. He stated that Baho had products that were complimentary to their own.
There are five separate subsidiaries owned by Baho, including plants for processing located in both the Netherlands and Germany. They serve eighteen countries in Europe. John Balvers is the director and he will stay with the company along with his managers. They will work together with OSI to ensure growth for the future of the companies.
John is extremely excited about the joining of the two companies. He feels the amazing relationships OSI enjoys with their clients and suppliers will be of great help to the growth of the company. This merger puts Baho Food in a unique position as they can use the experience OSI has gained over the years to make both companies even stronger.
