Importance of Constitutional Reviews as Tools for Seamless Democratic Transitions

Sujit Choudhry, the Founding Director of Center for Constitutional Transitions, once claimed, “Always be attentive to the people at the grassroots and be responsive to their concerns. They are wary of current occurrences. Therefore, they understand their needs.”

The idea behind the establishment of the center was to gather and mobilize professional reviews on statutory matters, through association with various professionals to provide informed policy alternatives for decision-makers

Speaking in an interview with CEOCFO Magazine’s Chief Editor, Sujit Choudhry responded to some questions regarding the reception of constitutional amendments in the wake of new democratic systems. While working as a legal counselor, he has played an integral role in constitution review processes. His major concern is that citizens are often left puzzled as to which statutes are viable or obsolete in current situations. Sujit Choudhry also responded to the increasing concerns on how the law is interpreted in the current political wave. He expressed that the American Exceptionalism with regards to global politics. The world is at a leveled political ground, and it is high time America started observing the successes and failure of other democracies.
