Dr. Saad Saad retired from surgery recently after four decades of work. He was a pediatric surgeon that has worked on three continents in several countries. even though he is retired, Dr. Saad Saad left the legacy of saving lives as well as eight missions to Jerusalem where he performed free complex surgeries on children in need. Dr. Saad Saad also left two medical patents and several improvements to surgical procedures.
Originally, Dr. saad Saad wanted to establish a career in engineering as his older brother did. He worked in the business for some time but later converted to medicine which held his fascination. Dr. Saad Saad often jokes that what pushed him to have a change of career were the extreme heat waves in his native Kuwait, Palestine. And there was a very inviting contrast between that heat and the air condition in operating rooms.
Ove the curse of his years of studying medicine in Egypt at the University of Cairo, Dr. Saad Saad was one of the top performers in his class. Dr. Saad Saad secured the tremendous opportunity to take his future medical career when he took a plain to another country to complete some exams that would open the doors to working in Europe and the United States of America.
Dr. Saad Saad then completed an internship in the United Kingdom and moved to the United States of America. There, he completed a residency in general and pediatric surgery. Dr. Saad Saad was certified in pediatric surgery. His career then took him to the K Hovnanian Children Hospital, located at Hackensack under the Meridian Health Care System in the state of New Jersey.
In the 80s, Dr. Saad Saad received a great and rare opportunity and that took him and his family back to the Middle East. Dr. Saad Saad received an offer to serve at the Saudi Royal family of Saudi Arabia as their pediatric surgeon. One of the things that brought him that opportunity was that he was the only pediatric surgeon in the U. S. that was certified by the board. He also speaks both English and Arabic fluently. Dr. Saad Saad also had a lengthy portfolio of achievements.
After staying in Saudi Arabia for a month to learn more about the job, Dr. Saad Saad moved there with his family in 1985 and remained in the position for almost five years. He gave lectures at the surgical club and taught apprentices as well.
