Ever since Ukraine’s communist system of government toppled over 20 years ago, the country has had an unstable state. This has made the former communist country chaotic. Therefore, the country has been struggling with implementing a successful democratic state. However, this state has found it quite difficult to address the political crisis. Some of the reasons plaguing the implementation of a peaceful and prosperous democratic system of government include:
- Weak political parties.
- A presidential system which holds too much power.
- Lack of a power separation between the prime minister and the president.
- A powerful presidential system, where the president holds a lot of power.
- An inadequate electoral system for the country’s legislature.
